Would you like a free bicycle?
Would you like a free bicycle? That is what Skill Share Dundee is asking people and I hope there are a few people that do. Well there is a slight catch – they have to help fix it! Skill Share Dundee have lots of old bikes that just need a little bit of love and attention, but after a little tlc should make a pretty good riding companion. So if you are up for learning how to fix a bike and are based in Dundee then you should head along this Saturday! Remember to wrap up warm… it is forecast to be cold and their workshop can get a little chilly. But there will be plenty of tea and coffee to warm up after you have done a little bit of work! Plus the more people, the more body heat right?
Skill Share Dundee is a pretty exciting community-led project that is in its early stages, their aims are to help to inspire, empower and connect members of the student and residential community by sharing practical skills and crafts. It is a friend of mine who is set it up and it is great to see this space develop. You can read a little bit more about it here in their blog.

This is such a great idea. I just heard about a bike shop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that does this. You pay to take some classes on how to fix up a bike, you fix one, and you take it home. And then after that you can do your own maintenance–it’s a good set up I think!
