Sustrans – Join the Movement
Just a highlight on Sustrans, as they are doing so much great work around the UK, and perhaps the best way to describe them is through their own words:
Sustrans is the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity. Our vision is a world in which people choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment. Every day we are working on practical, innovative ways of dealing with the transport challenges that affect us all. Quoted from here
In this post I have placed a snapshot of three pages from their annual review 2008, which details some of the great work that they have completed during 2008, I look forward to seeing their review of 2009.
But in the mean time, this shows some of their achievements in creation and recording. As by recording the number of people that are now choosing to make journeys with alternative means of transport is the first step and hopefully will enable more backing to future plans or visions and substantiate that there is a need to get this country moving in a whole lot of different ways.
And they certainly have some great figures, such as helping 89,000 children cycle to school more often , pg 2
