I have just seen this posted on the Blogging Innovation site by Damian Kernahan and I just think it is great. It is one of those items that has so clearly followed through obeservations of the user and understood their needs at this specific point in a journey. It demonstrates innovation in design for urban cyclists, yet it is such a simple item.
Damian Kernahan discusses it in relation to what Service Design should be- stating that it is – Simple, Elegant and Effective.
To add a nice touch – suppposedly it reads on the bar : “Hi, cyclist! Rest your foot here… and thank you for cycling in the city.”
There is also a more detailed analysis of it on Copenhagenize blog , again stating the by ‘making a fraction of the day just that little bit easier – that is why it is simply brilliant ‘
