Bikes in Fashion Advertising *1

be stupid. deisel, bikes, advertising, models, fashion, ad, Mainstream culture is adopting bicycles as the new fashion accessory, as can be seen in a host of Fashion Advertisements that have been published in the last year. They may not always promote cycling in the safest manner, but they do promote cycling to a (potentially) new audience, which is good! I am going to start collecting examples when I see them, but here is the roundup that I have for the moment.

As part of the new Diesel ‘Be Stupid’ Campaign (This campaign has caused although  if positive and negative discussion, in relation to whether it has been a sensible move for the brand. ) However, I quite like it, even if those heels on that frame do look a little precarious!

Dior Miss Cherie feature a bicycle in both the print advert and the older film advert . The film advert is directed by Sophia Coppolla and based in Paris, so as ever makes cycling look Tres Chic.

These british bike babes have suitably stylish bikes to match the Radley Bags.

Lacoste’s 2010 campaign ‘Un Peu d’air Sur Terre’, shot by Ellen von Unwerth, features bikes in a refreshing and stylish manner.  (Their other adverts feature rubber rings and crocket sticks) But obviously the bike one is a favourite of mine.
