Riding High in the Sky
I loved the documentary film Man on Wire which tells the story of the spectacular high wire ambitions of Philippe Petit. However, Philippe is not the only man out there with high wire ambitions as Martin Angelov of the Kolelinia Lab demonstrates with his range of ‘innovative’ concepts.
Kolelinia bike lanes started life as a quick sketch and an open mind in 2008 and have now developed into a fully blown transportation concept which “Could be a bridge type, a longer transportation line or a special designed and independent touristic line.” The concept is a little crazy and does potentially have many pitfalls as people have been quick to comment about on various other blogs, but it is nice to see a totally radical (even if not totally practical) idea for a bike lane for a change. It’s always good to think outside the box.
The concept won the Line of Site competition in 2009
